Applecross Alpaca

Look no further, our beautiful crofter’s cottage on the rugged coast of the Applecross peninsula might be your answer. www.theweaverscottage.co.uk. Sensitively converted, this cosy refuge which was formerly the home of an Applecross weaver is a tastefully furnished open plan space with Rayburn at one end and woodburning stove at the other and a snug little bedroom nestling in the rafters (or Minstrel’s Gallery as I like to call it) above accessed by a little wrought iron stair case – oh and a little sun room off with a fantastic panoramic window where you can sit on a stormy day and see for miles. The surrounding scenery is breathtaking. There aren’t many alpacas up there, although one of the crofters was considering giving them a go – I’m sure they’d settle in fine, but the beautiful scenery and gentle colours of Loch Torridon looking out to Rhona, Skye and the Isle of Harris on a clear day provides me with plenty of inspiration for new alpaca designs. Applecross Alpaca – has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? Would like to get up there more often, but 2 kids under 3 make that a bit tricky, and anyway, it’s nice to see it being enjoyed by other people. Remember to take your alpaca knitwear up there – it gets a bit chilly..
